2022. Revised Gerian so that the bookmark list can actually open a browser to display a URL, while also implementing data entry for some auctions to monitor winning prices.
2044. Debugged affiliate data import in Gerian, tracing one odd “primary key” issue to the change of an existing affiliate’s sponsor.
2070. Began designing order entry features in Gerian.
2081. Implemented, live-tested and revised the new data entry options in Gerian for country, product and store lists, now remaining the order proper.
2103. Implemented basic order entry in Gerian so it’s now possible to record details about orders placed with TripleClicks.
2114. Spent most of the day test-driving and revising the new features in Gerian, order entry and daily hit tracking download reminders.
2136. Made more enhancements to Gerian, incorporating a product lookup list, something we’d been missing while live testing the order entry.
2140. Searched again for a way to get sms from the Lumia phone to the computer, installing one app on the phone. It only let you write sms with the computer after linking the two via a web page (much like WhatsApp Web) so had to uninstall it. The search also turned up two other possibilities, using Transfer My Data and contacts+message backup apps. The first would require a memory card in the phone to copy to, so we may need to install the second app first to see how it works.
2173. Printwiser Estimating was delivered and installed at a new client’s site. Three-day introductory training for the client commenced.
2195. Printwiser training for new client was rounded up, with 2-month free technical support starting on Monday.
2206. Implemented a new report requested by the client in EPPMS, showing people due to retire in a given year. Installed the contacts+message backup app on the Lumia phone and used it to save a backup to a folder on the phone for later transfer to the computer.
2210. Transferred the Lumia phone backup files to the computer and began studying the file for SMS with a view to importing it into MBDM. The file containing the messages had an .msg extension and the contents was in XML text format so we should be able to write code to import it into MBDM. The main challenge in doing this is the way the date/time value was represented, as one long number of 18 digits. We will first need to write PowerBuilder code to convert this to the normal date/time as shown against the messages in the Lumia.
2221. Uploaded the EPPMS update to the web and emailed and texted the client for download and installation. Wrote PowerBuilder code to convert the long 18-digit number to a normal date/time representation, so now all set to write the SMS import code in MBDM.
2232. Implemented the Lumia sms backup file import in MBDM.
2243. Live-tested the newly implemented Lumia Windows Phone SMS backup import into MBDM, importing 5,849 messages from December 14, 2013 to February 20, 2016 in about 45 minutes.
2254. Attempting to import WhatsApp chats that were downloaded yesterday into MoneyBooks, we noticed some funny characters in some phone number fields and had to modify MBDM to get rid of them when present. Probably those resulted from inferior cheap phones. Made the first technical support phone call to the new Printwiser client and their request for someone to help them set their labor rates got us implementing a Time Rate Calculator in Printwiser Estimating.
2276. Concluded the first 2016, Time Rate Calculator, revision in Printwiser, version 7.54, after adding a couple of new useful features to the application (the filtering lookup form for materials/labor list and a day-before-month Windows short date setting facility) and updating the online documentation.
