1044. Printwiser client Cheetah Press called regarding a support issue, a user having grayed-out menu items, later found to be due to their not setting access rights for the person at the modular level. Today is the last day of work for Lawrence Ikechukwu who is leaving to take care of his granny as well as attend to his further education.

1055. The main work of setting up the Inventory module was completed at Cheetah Press and the warehouse manager expressed confidence in being able to update their transactions; they will be starting live company estimating on Wednesday next week and requested our presence. Installed the latest FrontAccounting version 2.4.3 on a new client’s server with three databases (Demo, Live, Demo-Training).

1066. Revised EPPMS, first completing the inactive date range option for the nominal roll report and preparing the program installer, then turning attention to the nominal roll spreadsheet the client had given us for creating a data update script for all their districts, extracting the data to be processed from it into a SQL script file.

1081. Concluded the pending work on EPPMS, creating and testing database update scripts for their employee data supplied via spreadsheets.

1103. Visited Cheetah Press for their live estimating application of the software. Comparing a Printwiser generated estimate with their manual spreadsheet version led to discovery of data entry errors and further need to implement customizations for them in Printwiser.

1114. Implemented the next revisions in Printwiser for Cheetah Press: Direct labor calculation and some consumables calculation using a new “No Recalc Items” option that allows the user to specify a constant quantity for a Bindery item regardless of the job quantity, sort of similar to what happened with some pre-press materials. Visited NRC for EPPMS and the employee data update, including uploading IPPIS ID and reference whose update SQL code we created and implemented right there from Excel spreadsheets.

1125. A couple of numbers generated by Randomizer resulted in a win during continued live testing of ₦120,000 from a single ₦500 entry. Concluded revision of Printwiser for Cheetah Press, later visiting the client and updating their installations.

1140. Modified Randomizer’s Bets window to include a summary box just below the command buttons, showing total stakes, wins and the profit, so you don’t have to scroll to the end of a long list to see this information.

1173. Academy Press approved the next upgrade of Labelwriter, to be taking off soon. Worked on the FrontAccounting project, getting the same FrontAccounting installed on the client’s server running locally against XAMPP and copies of the three databases, hiding some modules from being displayed as suggested by the client (Manufacturing, Purchases and Sales, Dimensions) and doing the table design and setting up the menu for the new Cooperative Society module to be developed.

1206. We discovered that code that worked fine in the last version 2.3.25 of FrontAccounting may no longer work in the new 2.4.3 and it took several hours of trouble-shooting after our new Coop extension refused to display. It turned out a call to the application() class function—in the code that loaded extensions—that worked fine in the old version no longer worked as the function no longer exists. Once the Cooperative Society module extension started to be displayed we updated the FrontAccounting live and training installations on the server before turning attention to table design.

1210. Working on the new FrontAccounting project, we completed table design and went on to implement data entry for four lookup tables, with no version-related issues.

1221. Worked on implementing member data entry in the new Cooperative Society module of FrontAccounting, seeing that enabling of full debug mode in the config file was a big time saver as now rather than getting baffling blank screens when there were code errors like what happened last year the error messages were displayed there on screen for us to see and so sorting them out was no longer a strenuous trial and error affair.

1232. Worked on the member data entry form in Cooperative Society and implemented a JavaScript feature that pops up a window showing the full size of an image when you clicked on the smaller version of the image shown on the form; this was after implementing the uploading and deletion of three different images for a member—signature and application document in addition to the passport picture—rather than a single one that was done in earlier custom FrontAccounting modules.

1243. In the Cooperative Society module we implemented the Loans tab of the form though yet to test it fully. Cheetah Press’ IT manager called to report inability to start Printwiser successfully on the estimator’s laptop after an antivirus was upgraded on it, then later that he’d been able to resolve the issue.

1276. Worked mainly on the Cooperative Society module, resolving the issue with the Loans tab not showing up (due to syntax error in the code) and then the date picker pop-up failing to work (due to FrontAccounting code version changes that we’d not realized), before moving on to the Deposits tab.

1280. In the Cooperative Society module, we completed the last tab of the member form for Deposits then implemented Cooperative member read-only access to their data, once they are given login credentials. The sample Member form is shown in the attached image.

1302. Worked on the new Labelwriter, archiving existing program files and creating and importing the new LGA data sent by the client.

1313. Began working on the transactions data entry feature in the new Cooperative Society module of FrontAccounting.

Summary

Implementation of complete Printwiser for Cheetah Press Ltd continued this month with technical support visits to provide further training and set up the Estimating and Inventory modules. Work on a new FrontAccounting implementation kicked off with installation of the base application and development of the new Cooperative Society module. Testing of MR-Randomizer resulted in a sizable win while EPPMS was upgraded, and approval was received for next upgrade version of Labelwriter.
