July 2021 In Brief

7014. We made the first of several visits to NRC, installing EPPMS 5.14 and assisting with importing of IPPIS payroll data for June. It was observed that some people on the extracted IPPIS payroll file being imported were not on the nominal roll file and so were not imported. We would need to modify the IPPIS payroll importing in EPPMS to activate and include such people so that totals produced with EPPMS would match those of IPPIS. Back at the office, EPPMS was later revised so that deduction items on the payroll report were sorted by description rather than item code for easier grouping, as requested by the client. We also revised the MBGL transaction copying process to create a batch transaction when copying to a date that was outside the financial period, as batch transactions weren’t tied to a period.

7025. Visited NRC to install EPPMS 5.15 and then re-import IPPIS payroll for June after first activating via dbisqlc, a database query tool, those staff that were not on the IPPIS nominal roll so that the totals produced by EPPMS payroll summary report matched those of IPPIS. Repeated this process for the February to May backups, discovering the January backup to be unusable.

7036. We revised the transaction copying feature in MBGL to prompt for the target new date and also report if a batch transaction had to be created (if the new date was outside the financial period).

EPPMS 5.177062. Set up an incremental files backup system that made use of the various features of the xcopy command, to copy out selected directories and files changed or created since a given date, and then compress these files. Followed that up with the next EPPMS 5.17 revision for automated activation of people on the extracted IPPIS payroll file that were not on the nominal roll file, and increasing the font size for the IPPIS import reports grid. We later created SQL code to handle payroll posting for all those staff newly activated—for not being on nominal roll—in the current and subsequent backup databases.

7121. It was recently noted that the Bet9ja transactions display—and the resulting transactions text data format—had changed as at July 2021 from what was programmed in Randomizer years before. We took just over an hour to implement the new Bet9ja transaction import format in Randomizer today.

7154. Visited NRC for the installation of EPPMS 5.17. The January backup database was also recovered for use.

7272. Implemented the display of balance quantity and date on the Rewardicals and TCredit ledgers in Gerian, as shown on the first screenshot image above. The feature will now save users the time of going to check those values on the Settings Form before or after updating the ledgers.

7283. A Printwiser client reported inability to start the application against their regular database (but not a backup database). Today we worked on the issue, examining their database, implementing a verification and servicing procedure similar to one done for EPPMS years ago. Created, tested and emailed the client the resulting update for automatically resolving the database startup issues.

7294. The Printwiser client confirmed the update installation and resolution of the database issues was successful. They asked about installing Printwiser on a new system. As it appeared they’d misplaced the program CD we later created and uploaded a client installer for them to download.

Summary

Several technical support visits were made to NRC for IPPIS payroll importing and processing using EPPMS, and a new version 5.17 of the application was created. Support was provided for a Printwiser client having issues starting the application against their database, as well as creating a client installer for their version of the application. Gerian, Randomizer, and the General Ledger module of MoneyBooks were revised or upgraded.
