3016. We worked on Lemeechi StockReader, still on the regex search pattern for extracting data from the new webpage, resorting to scanning the html manually with code when regex expressions failed.

3020. Did some database maintenance work on our WEB241 custom search engine.

3042. We considered implementing a new data entry feature in MoneyBooks General Ledger, so that we would not need to be entering brief cash expenses in a spreadsheet (then summarizing and importing into the program at month’s end) like we had been doing for years. We were invited by a Labelwriter client for a briefing meeting on the next upgrade requirements.

3064. IT support staff of a Printwiser client, GlobalPlus Publishing, got in touch asking about changing the Printwiser server, and we made some suggestions. Later in the week, we gave him instructions on how to stop the Printwiser Windows service to enable him copy the database files to serve as backup. Resumed work on StockReader and successfully imported NSE listing from the new saved page of the FSL site, though later, on attempt to import directly from FSL, the URL no longer contained NSE listing data.

3075. The upgrade of MoneyBooks General Ledger to the next version 3.5 started with the provision of toolbar icons for the balance sheet and income statement reports, then implementation of the new petty cash expenses feature. We visited our client to discuss the Labelwriter 2025 upgrade requirements, sending the proposal days later. We also began the Printwiser 10.5 upgrade installation on their server and client computers, overcoming the challenges as they came. The installation involved configuring the database server engine to start up two databases instead of one, and was completed the following week. One of the challenges was inability to start the Windows service for the databases due to an I/O error. This was later found to be the result of not also renaming a log file internally (within the database) but only externally (as a Windows file).

3134. Resumed cash expense list implementation in MBGL. We received and investigated an error situation in Labelwriter reported by the client, providing a database update installer overnight to resolve the situation.

3160. Domain and hosting renewal was done for a client.

3204. We completed the data entry implementation of the Cash Expense List in MBGL v3.5, later moving on to the posting aspect. The posting was completed the following week, and involved placing the expense records in the main transactions file, among other things.

3274. Following approval received from the client, we carried out project preparation work on the next Labelwriter 2025 upgrade. The upgrade touches on 3 types of Labelwriter jobs: Importing, processing and reporting on new “serialization” data for one job type, providing new ticking list reports for two job types, and new delivery analysis reports for another and finally new label and report generation for one job type. The upgrade work continued the rest of the month on the serialization feature implementation.

4034. We continued work on the Labelwriter upgrade, which went on for the rest of the month. Due to client’s urgent need of the serialization feature, the upgrade was delivered in four incremental versions, starting with version 11.0, followed by 11.0.1, 11.0.2 and finally 11.0.3. We worked closely with the client on using and testing the delivered versions, carrying out revisions as well based on feedback. In all, the upgrade involved … Testing and debugging the client and database aspects of serialization type automatic generation and assignment. Showing subject serialization types on the envelope label. Adding serialization type and other details to the candidate listing. Importing of subject serialization type files. Implementation of new ticking list for merged packing summary reports. Implementing exam day grouping features (label generation and listing report). Merging delivery analysis reports and new delivery analysis report for merged envelope packs.

Cash Expense List4152. We added more columns to the Cash Expense List of MBGL—Beneficiary, Ref and Posted ID. In this screenshot, the newly added toolbar icons are the third one from the left, for the Cash Expense List, and the two under the Window menu, for the balance sheet and income statement reports.

4303. The Labelwriter 11.0.3 (2025 upgrade) was completed with the final installer delivered electronically. The Labelwriter work today was in two morning and afternoon sessions of over 4 hours: Finalizing the delivery analysis report for merged packs. Building the executable file. Updating the local copy of client database, then the documentation. Creating the installer. Testing against client local database and addressing couple of issues then rebuilding the executable and the installer. Uploading the files to server and finally sending covering email to the client.

Summary

The next upgrade of MoneyBooks General Ledger v3.5 was done with new toolbar icons and cash expense list data entry. Installation of Printwiser 10.5 was completed. Work was also done on our WEB241 custom search engine and Lemeechi StockReader. Towards the end of March, approval was received for the next 2025 upgrade of Labelwriter 11.0.3, involving three job types. The upgrade work proceeded the next few weeks to completion towards end of April.
