Work on our customized web-based search engine code-named WEB241 continued and was generally completed, following a rebuild using CodeIgniter 4, as the first one built with CI 3 did not work on the new secure server. Discussions were held with a Printwiser client—and proposal submitted—for a new capital-energy summary estimate upgrade that would provide an alternative method of calculating the summary estimate working sheet items, including providing for cost of capital and cost of energy, among other features. Support was provided for another Printwiser 8.1 client on the fresh installation of the client application on a new system. The next release version of LwriterGF v1.01 was created and delivered, with the implementation of the A3 paper size for pallet labels.
The website development project from last month was concluded. An alternative candidate listing report presentation format for Labelwriter was suggested by the client, and we considered the possibility of conducting remote training for a user of our Cooperative Society module of FrontAccounting. Minor database-side changes were made to the Accounts Payable and Inventory modules of MoneyBooks.
Following completion of new domain name registration and hosting project last month, this month saw the take-off of full website development, still on-going. Before this the next upgrade of Labelwriter with a new candidate listing report was concluded, while some changes were made to the Data Manager and GL modules of MoneyBooks along with the Blog application.
The new year began with the implementation of TripleClicks product banners on the Partners page of our website, and shortly work started on a new application TCProd to assist with that. Renewal of 2-year domain name and 2GB hosting for a client’s two domains was completed. The Payroll and Sales modules of MoneyBooks were revised in connection with new salary tables and the new 7.5% VAT rate. Gerian Assistant was also updated to handle new product groups for Astro Auctions announced by SFI. EPPMS client was visited in connection with continued technical support for the long-running application.
LVReg, our web application to facilitate SFI’s Localvantia pre-registrations, was created. Our FrontAccounting MR-Payroll module was set up for a Pakistani prospect to review. A Printwiser client was visited for technical support, while discussions with an old prospect for its implementation resumed. The Sales and Employees modules of MoneyBooks got some needed changes.
The Microsoftware Blog was upgraded with author post subscription feature. A Printwiser Estimating client was visited for technical support. Revisions were made to MR-Randomizer and several modules of MoneyBooks. Work began on a new website registration and creation project.
The Microsoftware Blog got its first upgrade this year, the main additions being a Search menu item for a live search facility, the “Similar Posts” section on post viewing pages, and post tag deletion. Research and review of web development technologies continued on VueJS for which a new Discovery Vue Journal thread was started at Nairaland as well as here; also HTTP call processing and the NuxtJS framework were looked into.
On September 4, 2004 the classic Microsoftware website went online as a Geocities site, and a month later on October 3 was moved up to our chosen domain and server. Just like our blog, it has been redesigned and upgraded with new features, reactivated online on October 21, 2017. Highlights of the new features include:
Implementation of complete Printwiser for Cheetah Press Ltd continued this month with technical support visits to set up the Estimating and Inventory modules, and installation of the network database server software. Approval was received for a new FrontAccounting implementation. MR-Randomizer and EPPMS were revised, and further discussions were held with a Printwiser and Labelwriter client on new requirements.
