1043. Made the first MoneyBooks revision of the year, improving the recurring transactions list in GL, and then the resume form and applicant list in DM, also implementing applicant list auto-start command.

1065. Did the first revision of Randomizer for the year, extending the top ten analysis spreadsheet by three pairs of columns going back to 360 days, and the bottom 10 analysis list by four column pairs, going back to 24 months.

1076. In Randomizer we improved the generation of best number couples to include estimated next draw dates based on the last draw date and the lowest, average and longest draw intervals.

1080. Did the first 2017 revision of MBAP, first revision since 2015, mainly converting the online help format from hlp to chm, with a couple of other minor changes to the application.

1091. Did the first 2017 revision of MBIN (v1.51) since 2015, improving some forms and adding an additional data integrity check during transaction posting.

1124. Visited a Printwiser prospect on the mainland for demo presentation. They are considering acquiring the complete package with all the four modules of Estimating, Inventory, Planning, Work In Progress.

1146. Specifying a query value beginning with the character in a PowerBuilder application always triggered an ‘invalid criteria’ error and we decided to get to the bottom of this, finding a fix for the situation and starting the recompile for MBDM that was being used when the error came up recently.

1150. Rebuilt the executable for MBDM to address the backslash invalid query criteria issue. Revised Randomizer to include a pair of columns for 720-day top 10 analysis with the corresponding top 10 target setting; settled for a faster method of searching draw results using the IN() operator when querying rather than checking manually. For instance, to see if four numbers 14, 19, 20, 17 were drawn, IN(14,19,20,17) would be used as the query criteria for the number column, which would save the time of searching the draw results manually.

1161. We revised MBAP to correct non-recalculation of VAT and discount when a detail line was deleted on the bills payable and purchase order forms. Began investigating why the menus usually could not be selected with the Alt key+letter combination on the quotation and similar forms of MBSA (and other applications too) that had two or more datawindow controls on them.

1172. Fixed the issue of inability to use Alt key+letter combinations to select menus on some forms in two applications, MBSA and Gerian, having gotten to the root of the problem, which was the presence of title bars for the datawindow controls.

1216. Began implementing a new kind of target in Randomizer to be called optimistic couples, selecting those that were drawn within a given short average interval of days for use as basis for future predictions.

11220. Continued testing the optimistic couples selection in Randomizer, generating a listing for the past two weeks, of couples having at least three recent draws of maximum 10 days average interval, with three couples appearing twice within a week.

1231. A first caller of the year that probably got our number from our TripleClicks shop wanted to know if we had computer accessories he could buy for 500 VersaPoints. This meant he was an SFI affiliate. We introduced him to two listed products whose VPs could be combined or multiplied to produce just over 500 VersaPoints, a 32GB flash drive (225 VP) and of course Gerian Assistant (372 VP).

1242. Lawrence Ikechukwu joined the company as office assistant, starting on a one-week orientation period before full employment. In Randomizer, we completed the implementation of optimistic couples listing so what had taken over thirty minutes to figure out recently could now by done within a few minutes by the application.

1253. Implemented another time-saving feature in Randomizer, watch list data entry and checking draw results of a given day for watch list values not yet drawn.

1264. Visited Printwiser client on support call. Discovered the reason the WIP module wasn’t “working” fully for the estimators was that they didn’t have supervisor rights, and having been given access to the module the next step of specifying what they could do in the module was left undone. Gave them more refresher training and discussed new features to be implemented.

1286. Carried out the next Printwiser 7.55 revision for use by the client visited above. In the WIP module, specification of actuals for estimated outside costs was implemented. In the Estimating module the delay time of 30 minutes that was added to all labor operations was made optional.

1290. Turned attention to trouble-shooting MoneyBooks database connection issues on the office networks and ended up using the same SQL Anywhere server for different databases on seeing that the default port 2638 was being grabbed by the server for a less-used database and this probably contributed to connection difficulties to the more-used company database (that had to settle for a different port) when the Windows firewall was on, at least on the wireless network.

1301. Visited EPPMS client on support call. Our suspicion about the user not knowing how to query the listing accompanying the comparative payroll summary was confirmed, and after educating them further we attended to some of their issues and discussed new features required.

1312. On noticing that the format of the bet ticket displayed immediately at the PremierBet website varied from what it used to be last year, we began updating the Randomizer ticket import code. Completed the revision then went on to write code that would automatically check all bets for a given day against the draws to report on the numbers that got drawn, saving time of doing the checking manually.
