Introducing, the Printwiser Estimating 10.0 Capital/Energy Estimate Summary Format upgrade, effective April, 2024. It introduces three new variables in computing the cost price, working capital cost (to cover bank interest on funds), energy cost and sales discount, to better meet the changing economic environment. Energy cost could have previously been represented by a rarely-used charge like excise duty, but is now properly represented on its own. Both working capital and energy cost are calculated as percentages of production cost. The upgrade introduces new formula for calculating some items, some new terminology on the estimate summary working sheet, includes working capital list and form for interest calculation and prorating, and a new hard/limp cover estimate summary report format.
Introducing, the Printwiser Estimating 9.0 Flexible Estimate Spreadsheet upgrade, effective April 11, 2022. It features what most estimators have probably been wishing for, the ability to combine the estimate summary and detailed working sheets into one simple spreadsheet format, one that readily exports to a spreadsheet file. Not only that, you get the option to choose just the columns to show in the spreadsheet. Another useful feature is being able to set up access shortcut to standalone backup databases and copy estimates to and fro directly.
The HIDDEN Form in Gerian was revised to work better with small screens, of less than 768px height, with the Tool menu getting a new option. Discussion was concluded with a Printwiser client for the training of two users on the Estimating module, coming up in October. Technical support was provided for a Printwiser user on the feature of switching databases in the latest version 10.5. Support work was also done on MoneyBooks modules—Sales, Payroll, Accounts Payable. In MoneyBooks Sales, non-display of signatures on the quotation report in an installation was resolved, while transaction posting issues were addressed in the other two modules.
Technical support was provided for a client whose website crashed, bringing it back online. The initial version of Estimating Assistant was completed, our new estimating software that is a more affordable alternative to Printwiser. Several MoneyBooks modules got reviewed or upgraded—General Ledger, Data Manager, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Sales. Before this, technical support was provided for a website client whose unchanged password was no longer being recognized. The Inventory and General Ledger modules of MoneyBooks were also revised.

We researched university teacher attendance tracking software and made a recommendation to a prospect. This Blog was upgraded with Open Graph meta html tags for posts, for enhanced sharing on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter (X).
Program development work for LwriterGF kicked off and is still ongoing. It is a new application to do what Labelwriter does—generating, numbering and sorting of different types of labels for the packaging of printed security stationery, along with generating analysis and documentation reports—but for a different type of security material and with different label formats. Also, on discovering that a client’s website was down, found due to some actions of the ISP, we investigated and got it back up.
Two revisions of Labelwriter were made, ending with Labelwriter 10.2 with the option to combine different envelope packs in the same carton. A new GUI application Lemeechi StockReader was created for downloading share stock transactions, initially in fulfillment of project requirements by Chris Emejuru for Harvard University’s CS50P, the CS50’s Introduction to Programming with Python course. August 9 marked the 24th anniversary of the initial installation of EPPMS at NRC. Gerian 1.56 was built with the size of the Notes column for HIDDEN records more than doubled. MoneyBooks Data Manager also got two revisions, ending with MBDM 3.0 with the SQL Query Processor tool for directly querying the database.

Gerian Assistant got two version revisions, ending with v1.41, with changes to how the SFI date and the game streak were set, and changes to the HIDDEN List and HIDDEN Form—including the SFI streak date on them, and making the Continue and End Game buttons on the new word section of the form invisible when the game timer is paused. A Printwiser client reported an issue with the flexible estimate report feature, and this was investigated and solution given.
