9013. We attended to issues reported for the new Labelwriter 10 by the client, and from examining their database sent via WhatsApp, saw why the vertical collation feature appeared not to be working for carton labels, then sent an update to resolve the issue. The client also requested for changes in the delivery note and packing summary reports, which we worked on.
9024. Made the first of four technical support visits to NRC this month. IPPIS payroll data for July and August were imported and posted in EPPMS.
9061. Resumed work on the only pending report for the new Labelwriter upgrade, the merged packing summary report.
9072. Visited the Labelwriter client to observe the operation of the new upgrade, take note of outstanding issues, and then install the upgrade on additional machines.
9083. Investigated the new Labelwriter, getting to the bottom of the reason the delivery note report was showing only the last 9 colleges whether you cleared existing boxes or not: The other colleges had been imported twice with different job codes and the SQL code that attempted to retrieve their school IDs was failing, leading to their delivery records not being written at all.
9105. Labelwriter 10: Addressed issues observed on the envelope label generation window and the carton label report when we last visited the client, before finalizing work on the merged packing summary report.
9116. Labelwriter 10: Implemented a Customize button to allow changing font size and other settings for carton label reports, did general testing with the demo and a version of the client database, built a setup installer and finally updated the CHM document (shown above) with details of the new version 10.0.05.
9131. Began examining a nominal roll spreadsheet containing IPPIS and manually-entered values, for the purpose of updating the EPPMS database, saving a dbf version for loading into a database. During the next few days SQL scripts were produced and used to update the following employee information in the database: District, department, marital status, gender, employment/birth/confirmation dates, phone number, designation, origin state and LGA, senatorial district. Over 1,700 unique IPPIS designations were seen and to automate their assignment, we created two string abbreviation functions for shortening long strings, either via initials or to given sizes by reducing the lengths of individual words. For senatorial districts, the official list was downloaded from INEC’s website and then assigned to all the LGAs in the database.
9186. EPPMS 5.20 revision was created to stop automatic data retrieval on the IPPIS Employee List as the records were now much in the client database, and also address an issue with IPPIS payroll import logging that was last observed on site.
9245. A Printwiser client had reported an issue with their Planning database. On receipt of a copy of the database sent via WeSend, we investigated and fixed the issue, uploading the fixed database files to the server for them to download.
9271. Introduced Remove With References on the Tool menu of the Payroll module of EPPMS, as version 5.21. This feature that also exists in Printwiser Estimating, first removes references to a data value in related tables before removing the data value itself. It was implemented for the Designation List as now with most of the IPPIS designations created afresh automatically some people could have different designation codes for the same job, such as from different spellings of the same designation names. This new option would allow such duplication to be removed.
9293. The Printwiser client texted that the database fixed earlier still had issues prompting them to use an earlier backup. Although the database was working fine with Printwiser on our system, we created and emailed a database servicing update to work directly on their system.
9304. Made the last technical support visit of the month to NRC. Their database as well as the EPPMS 5.21 application were updated. Work on importing of IPPIS payroll for September was started.
