10024. We responded to support call from a Printwiser client on issues having to do with the multi-database feature in version 10.5. The client reported that non-Supervisor users were not able to switch databases, and this was investigated. Screenshots sent by the client the next day showed that the form where database access was assigned to users was generating an error on one database, to the effect that a procedure was missing. A work-around was suggested pending an update to resolve the error.
10105. The database script for resolving the client’s missing-procedure error was set up. The next two days, we created, tested and debugged the initial version of a database update utility program to apply the script on the client’s two databases. The program became necessary as previous database updates were only made against a single database at a time. The installer for both utility program and database script was then created, tested and emailed to the client.
10164. Preparation for the rescheduled Printwiser Estimating training resumed. The training material preparation was concluded two days later.
10234. Introductory Printwiser Estimating training for two employees of GlobalPlus Publishing Ltd kicked off in Lagos. It was led by Chris Emejuru assisted by MacDonald Anigwe. The trainees were Alex Onwordi, an assistant manager, and David Shobowale, a finance executive, while the estimator and head of finance also sat in. The course covered the Printwiser software environment, estimate entry, calculations and comprehensive reports generation, as well as issuing data retrieval queries. It was concluded the following day. Upgrading of their software was suggested to them, as it was still version 8.1 of several years ago, with the present version being 10.5.
10245. We visited the Printwiser client that had issues with database switching, and sorted out remaining issues that required corrective tutorial on setting up of users and database access for switching purposes. The client then further requested the optional Quotation Request option of Printwiser Estimating, and areas of customization were discussed. The following week, the proposal was sent. Another client called asking for assistance with setting up of a website for an end-user. In the following days it was discovered the website would run on a WordPress theme and hosted by GoDaddy.
10282. One observation during the support visit to the Printwiser client was that occasionally a connection dialog box would pop up and the users had to type a value specifying the name of the server before connection would proceed. Their IT was advised on doing the configuration once and for all, but on hearing today that this was still pending, we set up an installer to make the configuration setting and emailed this to the user.
